BIOGRAPHY
Dyan Rosenberg is a Westchester, NY based artist. She Grew up in Scarsdale and raised her family in Rye Brook. She currently resides and has her studio in North Salem, in a home she designed and built.
In the 1960s, while raising a family, creating and exhibiting her paintings, Dyan simultaneously established Something Special, a needlepoint design business. Something Special operated for 11 years out of Dyan's home-based studio where she mentored high school artists that helped to grow her boutique, niche brand of needlepoint handbags, footstools and rugs, which directly served the fashionable women and savvy needlepoint shops in the Tri State area.
While painting and showing her work through Westchester galleries and selling to private collectors, Dyan's vision of art grew to include wearable sculptural knitted and crocheted clothing. By designing and hand crafting a line of coats and jackets along with the hiring of local Westchester artisan women, she created a collection of clothing that was sold through her studio and art galleries in Westchester, New York City and New Jersey.
Dyan's practiced personal style of color and form developed into an even broader vision. The synthesis of her painting and fiber art forays led to the formation of Roseclyff Design/Build, a Westchester based firm, established circa 1981 in Rye, NY. Dyan specialized in architectural design, project management and a division of custom built furniture and interior design. Dyan's loyal patrons employed her to design/build their homes and interiors. Her most recent collection features furniture created from fallen white birch logs that she sells directly from her studio and Dyan & Daughters Gallery, an art gallery in Katonah, NY she co-owns with her two daughters.
Before Dyan & Daughters Gallery, Dyan was the owner of three art galleries, two in Westchester and one in Greenwich Ct., where she created a showcase for other Westchester artists and artisans to sell their work. She is also deeply involved in the art community of Westchester, having served on the Boards of the Rye Art Center and the Hammond Museum in North Salem and was more recently a Trustee at the Katonah Museum of Art. She has served three terms as the President of the Katonah Museum of Art Artists Association and has been a continuing member and supporter of ArtsWestchester since the1960s.
